Blessing Day

We blessed Owen on August 8th. We waited a while so we could make sure our families could be there. Matt, Kerry and girls were in Scotland until the end of June and Marci was in the Dominican Republic through July. We ended up doing a brunch before church since our church is so late (2:30 PM) and that way we could stay for the rest of our meetings (which didn't end up happening due to a fussy baby Owen. Oh well, we tried.) We held the brunch at our condo's clubhouse. We served fresh fruit (cantaloupe, watermelon, honey dew, strawberries, and grapes) with danishes, and homemade banana bread and quiche. Everything was delicious.

We ended up having a lot of people over between our families and good friends. Elder Lance B. Wickman (Kerry's father-in-law) was able to attend with his wife, Pat, and daughter, Courtney. I thought that was very special as well since he sealed Miles and me in the Salt Lake Temple.

Grandma and Grandpa Van de Wetering:
Auntie Kimmie and cousin Austin came from California:Braden, Haley and Sophia Molyneux:

After the brunch, we went to the church and Miles performed the blessing. He did a great job and I was so happy to have so many wonderful priesthood members of our family in attendance. My Mom made an amazing blessing gown for Owen to wear. I got a lot of flack from some of the men in the family for putting Owen in a "dress" but I thought he looked awesome and the gown was beautiful.

Owen wasn't too happy with all the picture taking...

Four generations:
Grammy wanted a picture of her with Owen in his blessing gown that she made. He didn't want to cooperate. I think he was hot and tired by this point and just wanted to get out of his gown and go to sleep!
